This chrome stopper is hand turned from highly figured Australian Yellow Box burl. Perfect to show off that special bottle of wine or save it for another day. Yellow Box (Eucalyptus melliodora) is a Eucalyptus species from Eastern Australia. It is also know as the best native Australian tree in producing honey. Burl is an unusual growth on the side of a tree produced by the cambium layer in a little understood process believed to be in response to some form of distress or irritation. Although they may grow quite large, burls can generally be harvested without affecting the overall health of the tree.
